Paignton Pier Chippy Co. opened its doors in early 2018 after an extensive refurbishment programme. Situated in a prime position, dominating the entrance to Paignton Pier, it is the only Traditional Fish & Chip Takeaway & Restaurant on Paignton Seafront.
Determined to return to the days of quality fish and chips, we offer a smaller menu, with the best quality ingredients.
We only use the best fish on the market, we are currently using Prime MSC Glacialis Cod Loin, caught in sustainable waters in the North Atlantic by the Norebo fleet of trawlers.
With our commitment to providing good quality food and the highest standard of customer service, our team strive every day to bring our customers the best!
MEET THE TEAM
You will just as easily find Lorraine emptying the bins, rumbling potatoes or frying fish as you would be slaving over the computer doing the paperwork – she is very hands on in all aspects of the business. Lorraine has a strong business background, although new to Fish & Chips. Before opening Paignton Pier Chippy, Lorraine researched the business and spoke with award winning fryers and shops to find out what it takes to be the best. Lorraine also completed the KFE school of frying excellence course, under the tutelage of award winners Nigel Hodgson, Gordon Hillan & Gary Rosser.
She is extremely passionate about providing good quality food.
"I find it annoying when I choose to eat out, that a lot of places are still serving frozen or pre-packed food, it’s unacceptable when I’m spending my hard earned money. I don’t think it makes a difference if it’s a Fish & Chip takeaway, or a Seafood Restaurant, too many places are serving sub standard food. I think as a consumer though, we are now demanding better quality products when eating out and that is what’s behind our ethos here at Paignton Pier Chippy Co., wherever possible.
All the staff here share a love of food and a desire to be the best, we are all committed to providing a top level of customer service – they are trained to reject anything they do not feel is up to scratch – I had one of the staff refuse to serve one of my fish once - we don’t always get it right which is why all the team are always double checking to ensure the food is 100%."
Lorraine has had a varied background and lived in Greece running business for a number of years, as well as being a trained actress (you may recognise her from Coronation Street or Eastenders!) But her main passion has always been food – just don’t mention Microwaves – she won’t have one anywhere near the place!
